Me and a guildie were just getting ready to go IDS farming when i realized... are IDSs exempt from loot scaling? If they aren't then theres no real point... its gonna be next to impossible to get one unless we're super lucky.

I've made multiple attempts since the change and I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty no they are not exempt. It seems extraordinarily difficult to get these now at least in my experience.

Nearest area being Tasca's which isn't exactly close...How else would you go about farming something besides zoning into the neighboring zone and back again? I think an 8 man PuG on Hard Mode is probably the way to go for these now. It addresses loot scaling and has an increased rate for the better drops in the area. Might as well Vanquish it while you are at it.

It takes about 20 minutes or more just to run to the area with the imps. The only quick way back is to take the north route and die somewhere, and getting extra DP isn't a great alternative.

So the only pratical benefit to that is that you skip the small part of talcatas that can be run through in about 5 or so minutes.

It is blue, therefore it is not exempt from the scaling, howerver, it is a 15^50 blue, which will never drop anywhere else ever. that makes it somewhat unique. We just need an answer from gaile or an anet official for the correct answer. At any rate they shoulde just put a +30 mod on it and make it green, similar to the ice breaker or totem axe, which drops from just a certain enemy, not particuarly a boss.

no cause then you couldn't mod it... it should be gold and icy hilt removable in my opinion, then they'd have more value.

well if they're gonna do that they should just make a dragon sword that changes the color of the flames, when you add a hilt.

I *want* a shocking or ebon dragon sword. Bad. If only for the sake of completeness.

And yeah, the IDS needs to be considered in light of the loot scaling update. If it's not going to be exempt, then perhaps it needs to be changed so that it drops in other places too, or raise the drop rate. I don't know. Seems like something should be done; it's a special weapon, if not technically "unique."

after the farming nerfed , the only way i earn ingame money is by ids farming
it doesnt drop much as it used to be , but i get average of 1 ids every 1-2 runs (my secret formula 15 mins per run )

but its not the problem , selling ids is the problem ( since noobs r a lot and those who really afford and knows the value r very few)
some of the jokes i got while selling ids
some noobs claim they seen gold ids(yea rite)
some said it worth less than 1k ( coz its blue and no good mod inside)
and some said what use of icy upgrades ( they thought adding icy sword haft to fiery dragon sword will results ids)
the problems is these noobs ruined ur feeling in selling ids

Actually, selling IDS isn't a problem. WTS IDS 40k and u have them instantly.

if you can get one every 15 minutes, they really shouldn't sell for all that much... the whole point of paying large gold for rare items is that they are rare. if the drop is that common, its not exactly a rare item O.O

Adding +30hp was assumed. They just need to buff the drop rates a little I think, it's slow enough farming them, let alone farming them and getting nothing.

40k? i got reply telling me to go to hell when i ask for 30k ( and some calling me noob for selling blue for 30k)

I was an old school IDS farmer with W/Me build (January 2006), a couple of months ago I made a new warrior and wanted another one and I went there with W/E build flagging heroes/henchies outside the cave.

It was before loot scaling, and I cleared 4 times the cave with no IDS. Then at 5th attempt I got 2, one kept and one sold istantly for 25k (wanted to sell fast).

So in my experience, drop rate was very low even before loot scaling.

I also would like to know if they're exempt or not.
